Gujarat with its long and exciting history has a variety of interesting sites to visits like Ahmedabad, the present day capital, with its museums and interesting architecture; Vadodara, a centre of the arts; Lothal, a port that is over 4000 years old & part of the Indus Civilization; Palitana famous for its exquisite Jain temples on a hill ; the little Rann of Kutch - retreat of Asiatic Wild Ass and the Gir National Park - the last retreat of the Asiatic lion.
Gujarat is also known for its fairs and festivals and some of the interesting festivals are Navratri - the nine nights festival packed with graceful dancing called Dandia, dedicated to the Goddess of Power ` Maa Amba?; Tarnetar fair, held for 3 days in Aug/Sept every year, where young tribal men dressed in their finery come to Tarnetar to choose their life-partner & Ravichi, a tribal fair also held for 02 days in Aug / Sept closer to Tarnetar fair.
