The sacred river Ganga – the life giver, has a powerful hold over the imagination of all Indians. A journey to its many sacred sites such as Rishikesh, Haridwar, Allahabad, Varanasi and Ganga Sagar is the ultimate desire of the pious Hindu. Survival of the ancient customs, rituals and patterns of life that are peculiar to these scared places always fascinates visitors from India and abroad

The sailing from Sitamarhi to Varanasi is a fascinating journey visiting villages & scared Hindu temples such as Vindhyachal temple dedicated to Durga , the Goddess of Power etc, along the river Ganga. During the sailing, one can see a number of migratory & native birds besides Ganga Dolphin, making brief appearance on the flat stretch between Mirzapur & Chunar.

The journey begins at Sitamarhi, a place where Saint Valmiki , the author of the Holy book Ramayana had his Ashram. Sitamarhi also has a temple dedicated to Lord Ram and Sita. Further down is Mirzapur, also known as carpet country. The river takes a sharp turn near the imposing Chunar fort, which seems to rise vertically from the water. The sun rise and sun sets are spectacular with Pink, Orange and Blue infusing the placid landscape with sudden torrents of burning pyre, the journey ends at Varanasi, also known as “the city of Ghats”

The best period for sailing on the river Ganga is from mid Sep to mid December & again from mid January to end of March, when the weather is pleasant. We don’t recommend sailing between mid December to mid January as there is thick fog during this period, effecting the navigation and the pictorial view.

The best period for sailing is between mid January to mid February as it coincide with the annual Magh mela (baby Kumbh in Allahabad starting from Makar Sankranti to Mahashivaratri) at Sangam, the confluence of three rivers - Ganga and Yamuna & Saraswati, when thousands of devotes take a holy dip during some auspicious days.

Come & join us on our 3 nights / 04 days sailing on the Iconic river Ganga by country  boat. There will be a separate kitchen boat with kitchen staff  tea/coffee with cookies besides serving freshly cooked delicious meal.
