Temples & Tribal Tour Of Orissa

Day 01: ARRIVE BHUBANESHWAR

Arrive Bhubaneshwar airport or railway station.

Meeting at Bhubaneshwar airport or railway station by our representative and later transfer to hotel.

Bhubaneswar is known as the temple city of India. Once the capital of ancient Kalinga, the city has a long history & is today a bustling centre for commerce & religious activity.

Day 02: BHUBANESHWAR / DARINGBADI

After breakfast drive to Daringbadi by car (250 kms / 5-6 hrs) en-route visiting some of the tribal village and Kandh mala spices factory run by Govt. of India.

Arrive at Daringbadi and check-in at hotel.
Overnight in Daringibadi

Day 03: DARINIGBADI / BELGARH / RAYGADA

After breakfast at the hotel, drive on to Raygada by A/C car (210 kms / 5-6 hrs) en-route visiting Putudi waterfall and some of Belgarh’s beautiful site. Also visit villages of Kutia & Desia Kondh tribes.

Arrive at Raygada & check in at hotel.
Overnight in Raygada.

Day 04: RAYAGADA / CHATTIKONA / JEYPORE

After leisure breakfast at the hotel, leave for a day excursion to Chatikona and one of the largest Dongaria Kondh weekly markets, which is held on every Wednesday’s, the market is held in the bottom of Niyamgiri hill. Tribal people attend the market in their traditional dresses wearing tribal ornaments and costume. Attending weekly market is a fund day for tribal’s as they wait for this day with enthusiasm.

After visiting the tribal market, drive on to Jeypore by A/C car (140 kms / 3-4 hrs) & upon arrival, check-in at hotel.

Day 05 JEYPORE / ANKADELI / JEYPORE

After leisure breakfast at the hotel, leave for day excursion to Ankadeli by A/C car. Later proceed to visit another primitive tribe BONDA’s weekly market, which is held on every Thursday.  On the return, visit Lamtaput a small village located in Koraput, orrisa.

Day 06: JEYPORE / GUPTESHWAR / JEYPORE

After breakfast at the hotel, leave for day tour of Guptreswar, the cave temple of Lord Shiva. The temple here is known as Gupteswar or Gupta Kedar. En route to Gupteshwar, visit Boipariguda Durua tribal market besides visiting Siribeda  Durua tribal village.
Overnight in Jeypore.

Day 07: JEYPORE / TAPTAPANI / GOPALPUR ON SEA

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Gopalpur on sea by A/C car (380 kms / 6-7 hrs) en route visiting Taptapani, the hot water spring / spa.  Upon arrival at Gopalpur, check in to the hotel.

Day 08: GOPALPUR ON SEA / CHILIKA / PURI

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Puri by A/C car (180 kms / 3-4 hrs) en route visiting Chilika Lake, the largest brackish water lake in Asia.

Visit Nalabana Island to watch migratory birds & Kalijai on cruise

Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel.

Day 09: IN PURI

After breakfast check out from hotel and drive to Puri (56 kms / 2 hrs drive) en-route visit Dhauli, Pipili the appliqué and colourful Orissan handicrafts village of Odisha. Dhauli is the place where the famous king Ashoka of the Mauryan Empire submitted to Buddhism and non-violence after the battle of Kalinga. Visit the Peace Pagoda known as Shanti Stupa built in early 1970 by Japanese.

Konark temple is the world heritage UNESCO monument dedicated to Sun. then Chandrabhaga beach. In the evening to see Lord Jagannath temple Puri, from Raghunandan library as the Non-Hindus are not allowed to see the temple from inside.

The Sun Temple is one of the finest and the only existing examples of ancient Orissan architecture. This fabulous temple was built of stone during the 13th century. It is designed in the form of a chariot, which is drawn by seven horses. The temple has a total of 24 ornately carved wheels, which signify the time divisions. The walls of the temple bear intricate carvings, which depict the court life of the kings, hunting scenes and heavenly beings. The figures are extremely graceful and symbolize the splendour of Indian art and architecture. You can check out the Natya Mandir or dancing hall of this temple and marvel at its opulence and beauty. Another temple that is worth checking out is the Vaishnadevi Mayadevi Temple.

Day 10: PURI / BHUBANESHWAR

After breakfast transfer to Bhubaneshwar by A/C car (100 kms / 1-2 hrs)

Arrive Bhubaneswar and proceed to visit Nandankanan Zoo (Botanical Garden).

Later check-in at the hotel. After short refreshment, proceed to visit the traditional market Ekamra Hat

Day 11: IN BHUBANESHWAR

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to visit Udaigiri & Khandagiri caves. The figure of Mahavira Jain on rock –cut-caves. The Udayagiri hill has rock-cut-caves of Ranigumpha and Hatigumpha   with 18 rock edicts of Emperor Kharavela (1st Century AD).Then 11th Century A.D. Lingaraj temple, 10th Century A.D Mukteswar temple where you will find the magnificent arched gateway i.e. tarana,  in front of the Mukteswar temple. The 11th Century A.D. sculptural embellishments Rajarani temple, and thereafter the Ashokan Rock edict at Dhauli. It stands as a testimony of the famous Kalinga War fought here by the river Daya back in 261 B.C. Later the Modern Shanti Stupa at Dhauli built by Kalinga Buddha Sangha a magnificent Peace Pagoda in the year 1970. 

If time permit, explore the temple city of Bhubaneshwar or just relax in the hotel.

Day 12: BHUBANESWAR / DEPART

After breakfast, transfer to Bhubaneswar Airport in time to board flight onward destination.
