ARRIVE DELHI
Arrive in Delhi, the capital of India—a fascinating city where the past co-exists with the present. Located on the banks of the river Yamuna, Delhi has witnessed the rise and fall of many cities over the last five millennia. It is both a vibrant metropolis and a historic necropolis, rich in monumental architecture. Meeting upon arrival and transfer to your hotel.
IN DELHI
Discover Old Delhi: visit India's largest mosque, Jama Masjid, then ride a cycle rickshaw through the heart of Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk, exploring spice markets and food streets. Visit the historic Red Fort, built by Shah Jahan in 1639 as his majestic new home. After lunch, visit Gandhi Smriti at the Old Birla House, the sacred place where Mahatma Gandhi spent his last 144 days. Later, explore Humayun's Tomb and drive past the Rashtrapati Bhawan and India Gate.
IN DELHI
Visit the National Crafts Museum and the 90-acre Lodi Garden, dotted with tombs from the Sayyid and Lodi dynasties. After lunch, visit the Qutub Minar, a 12th-century 'Tower of Victory', and the famous Iron Pillar which bears a 4th-century Sanskrit inscription and has never rusted. In the evening, visit Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, a symbol of spiritual solace with its golden domes and sacred healing waters.
DELHI / FATEHPUR SIKRI / AGRA
Transfer to Agra (245 kms) via Fatehpur Sikri, the stunning 16th-century Mughal capital built by Akbar and abandoned due to water scarcity. In the afternoon, explore Agra Fort, where Emperor Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb for seven years, catching glimpses of the Taj Mahal from his octagonal tower.
AGRA / BHARATPUR / JAIPUR
Early morning visit to the Taj Mahal, built over 22 years by 22,000 workers as a poem in white marble. After breakfast, transfer to Jaipur (270 kms) via Keoladeo National Park in Bharatpur, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned as one of the world's most important bird breeding grounds. Arrive in Jaipur, the Pink City, the first planned city of its time.
IN JAIPUR
Excursion to Amber Fort via jeep ride, featuring the Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors), a marvelous example of Rajput architecture. Later, visit local workshops for block printing and gemstones. In the afternoon, visit the City Palace museum with its collection of royal costumes and miniature paintings, and the Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory.
JAIPUR / DELHI
Transfer back to Delhi (245 kms). Enjoy a Farewell Dinner in the city before transferring to the international airport for your onward flight.
